Sunbleached

This is a series of small stone lithographs drawn using number 4 (medium) litho crayons. These were produced on my MA as part of my final project and came from my time spent in Ashton Court photographing, drawing and experiencing trees, plants and the atmosphere of the estate. I was drawn to a small wood where this series predominantly came from and gave rise to the Underfoot series of prints which looks at details we walk on by, essential processes in the ecosystem including death and regrowth, decomposition and new life. This image features a log outside of the woods, in bright sunlight, sun bleached, rain and wind smoothed. I drew a detail of the lines in the wood from the scars of life and death.

Choose from a print on pale cream, smooth Simili Japon 130gsm, a paper that takes the ink readily and so produces a darker print, or Fabriano 284gsm, a softer cotton and cellulose paper that prints with more detail, but a little lighter and more delicately than the Simili.
