I am a printmaker, designer and curator based in Bristol, UK. I studied Graphic Fine Art at Canterbury, graduating in 2002. In 2004 I set up Soma Gallery, a gallery space, shop and ecommerce website in Clifton Village, Bristol.
Before setting up Soma, I worked for the Bath Fringe Festival as a Visual Arts Coordinator and for a small craft gallery, as a Gallery Assistant before becoming Manager, where I learned how to run a shop and gallery.
Alongside this, over the years, I have continued to occasionally design and illustrate for arts organisations, galleries and magazines. I have also sold my prints and artwork in a wide range of shops and galleries.
For the last few years I have mostly been using screen print and cyanotype in my artwork. I also use coloured metallic and matte foils to make badges and small items. My artwork draws on a lot of natural themes such as plants, leaves, trees and creatures including lots of birds. I mostly work directly from nature or from photographs I have taken. I regularly lug my heavy telephoto lens about to get photos of birds! I use a mixture of both traditional and digital skills in my artwork.
I have a wide range of knowledge in traditional printmaking and digital media. I have a degree in Graphic Fine Art where I learned a variety of skills. I have also gained many other skills and knowledge of different media from my work with a wide variety of artists and on many different projects at Soma Gallery.
I am an experienced curator and have curated over 40 exhibitions, working with hundreds of artists at Soma Gallery. I have also taken exhibitions and artists to external exhibitions including Pick Me Up London at Somerset House. I am also experienced in running workshops and other events from my 17 years at Soma.
